THE OFFICE.... The Intercom landline on Noor’s table gave out two long beeps. She clipped the papers on her desk and picked up the call before it could make a third irritating beep. “ yes.” She spoke with her hands busy with the sheets and the phone sandwiched between her head and her shoulder. “ could you come in for a minute Noor?” the Auditor spoke on the other end who sat 5 chambers away. She picked up the stapled sheets and walked to the cabin titled “Mr. Ahuja” “ Noor! Please don’t mind but can you push an hour post shift to finish these too?” He spoke pointing to another bundled file on his table. “ but sir…” “ thank you Noor. Its so sweet of you.” He answered back before she could complete her version. She felt helpless as she picked up the blue file that felt heavier in her head than in her arms. She sat in her chamber looking at people leave home happily through her cabin’s glass door. All she could care at the moment was for the work to finish on time so that...

Turned Tables.

Chapter 1- Kashyap I tapped on to the power button to scroll down the notification bar. I could see the alarm showing three more minutes to go. I was pretty proud of myself for waking up early by three minutes. I know it doesn’t make much sense. But trust me, for a non-morning person it’s no less than an achievement. I stared at the screen until the alarm rang and I shut it in one go. The mornings with no snooze go very rare in my calendar. I walked up to the kitchen and brewed myself a strong coffee. I am usually very punctual with my coffee proportions. I made sure it was strong enough with hardly any sugar in it. People often label me as a psychopath looking at my sugarless coffee. But its dam worth it for sure. My mobile made a beep on the kitchen counter. This time, as I scrolled down, there was a notification from Ishaan. “ bhai, its mummy pappa ka 25 th anniversary. Make sure you come. Ive just invited a few from our friend’s circle. So please come. Kaam me kaam ham...

80 and 76

Dint u cook this just yesterday? Or did "I" just forget as u always say? U bringing me the newspaper and chai, Reminding me of my evening walk at five. Listening to the 60s with my loud sing-along. Ranting for my glasses that I misplaced in the lawn. taunting me to go sugar-free with my diet, going an extra mile to patch up a silly fight. My worn out hearing often needing you to yell. But sure, i can listen to what your eyes dwell. An after-life or a re-rebirth, no matter where we land. I want you to be the reason for my life to withstand. I know it sounds funny when i say all this Knowing the fact that i am 80 and you are 76.

Roohi

The last pizza slice dangled in the box with a half empty chilli flake packet. Roohi picked the knife lying beside and tried to cut the piece into two equal halves. “They are not equally equal Roohi” Naitik tried grabbing on to the bigger slice. “why do you have to be so precise? Its fine you can have the bigger slice anyway.” Roohi jolted her answer and took a bite from the smaller slice. “Acha teek hai.. come.. have a bite from mine” Naitik gently let her have a bite. “I need the olives.” Roohi dived in for a huge bite in one go. “I knew it! just like the old times” Naitik sighed. “umm… I guess” Roohi spoke after an awkward pause. “ well.. can I ask you something Naitik?” Roohi spoke with a muffing tone stuffing the last bite of pizza in her mouth. The pizza crumbs were all over her spaghetti strapped T. “uh haa..?” He tried to respond with an incomplete slice still in hand. “ how about me shifting to Navodaya street? It would be easier for Tanvi to travel t...

Kehte hai,  haathon ke lakeeron me zindagi ka naseeb dikta hai par ye na jan paye, ki zindagi ko tere hathon me soup kar naseeb bi lakeeron ka khadr bhool sakta hai.

Whisky on the rocks

I don’t know how long it is going to take now. It’s been almost an hour sitting at this bar table with this fellow who has shouted, "Yar!! Tu hain na asli dosth!" over ten times by now. I am glad he considers me so, but I am definitely not sure if he will stay straight without puking until I take him home. The bartender made another whisky on rocks for him and placed it on the bar table. "Another chicken wing for me, please," I answered to the bartender before he could ask me if I needed anything more. It is not that I do not drink. But today I knew that he needed a bad drink, and I would be the one to drive him home. Also, it’s been a long time since we've hung out at a bar after his new job. It feels good to sometimes travel back to the good old days. "Why is everybody obsessed with success?" Pratik spoke, stirring his glass. "I don’t know. Maybe success feels good to everyone." I tried answering. "yeah maybe.. I have another question....
